a garden.

I once had a garden

that only blossomed on dark thoughts –

self-deprication,

self-harm,

self-hate –

but they needed constant attention,

and one day I decided I had better things to do.

so I dug it all up,

started fresh,

began planting something new –

self-love,

kindness,

an appreciation –

and still, those need constant attention,

but they’re blooming.

they’re blooming every day.

I pluck my weeds when I wake up,

and nurture the flowers that start to wilt.

I water,

I replant,

I love.

and that, has made all the difference.
